One of DC most diverse neighborhoods, bustling Columbia Heights, NW has the best of both worlds, historic row houses and new high-rise condos, and big-box retail next to local small businesses. Located in the Northwest quadrant of DC, Columbia Heights borders the neighborhoods of Shaw, Adams Morgan, Mount Pleasant, Logan Circle and Petworth. This is the neighborhood where Alex lives. We love Columbia Heights because everything we need and want is within a short walk — shopping, restaurants, friends, and parks. It is home to the Gala Hispanic Theatre, Dance Institute of Washington, and various community service organization including the Latin American Youth Center and the Greater Washington Urban League. The Great Washington Urban League administers the Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP) which has enabled many of our clients to purchase their first home in DC.
The Columbia Heights Day Festival, an annual event, which will be held on Saturday October 6th this year, is a great way to see what it’s all about! It highlights Columbia Heights businesses and community organizations and promotes the character and history of the neighborhood.
Fun Fact: In 1902, homes were being built in Columbia Heights for between $2,000 and $5,000 on average.
