Elegant and Easy Urban Living (Logan Circle)

The Castle, a stately red-brick Victorian mansion built in 1886 and located at 1301 Rhode Island Avenue NW, is home to a beautifully renovated duplex condo that overlooks Logan Circle from the light-filled, rotunda living room. The unit was recently renovated by local developer Martin Ditto of Ditto Residential, who preserved the historical features of the unit – including the original wood burning fireplace – but created a modern, elegant space.  The one-of-a-kind unit also features a modern gourmet kitchen with Calacatta marble countertops and Porcelanosa floor tile, a rotunda master suite and a second room that can be used as a study or second bedroom. The condo is a perfect option for those looking for an easy, urban lifestyle.

Washington DC is consistent with 2010 census data confirming that more and more people are, in fact, looking for an easy, urban lifestyle. Buyers are intentional about choosing neighborhoods that are close to public transportation so they can ditch their cars; full of retail so they can walk to get anything they need; community-oriented so they can engage with their neighbors; and fun – with lots of yummy restaurants and interesting gathering places.

    The Castle

One of the neighborhoods that offers all of this is lovely Logan Circle. It gets a walk score of 94. Just about anything you’ll need or want is within walking distance: Whole Foods grocery store, pharmacies, banks, bars, salons, restaurants, dry cleaners, hardware stores, pet stores, boutique specialty shops, furniture stores and our personal favorite, a gelato shop! One thing that you don’t always come by in Washington DC  is great live theater, but Logan has it! The Studio Theatre is an institution in the neighborhood with some of the best contemporary theatre that DC offers. Many nearby restaurants offer theater menus so you can enjoy the quintessential dinner and a show. And finally, Logan is centrally located with easy access to downtown, Dupont Circle, the U Street Corridor, Shaw and much more. It just doesn’t get any better.
