    Woodridge Library Architects Named

The excitement is brewing here in Woodridge. We’re getting one of the new fantabulously designed public libraries! And they’ve just announced the team of architects who will be designing the Woodridge branch – Bing Thom Architects and Wiencek + Associates. Click here to read the press release.

We’re talking impressive architects here. Bing Thom Architects is based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. According to their website, their firm shares a “fundamental belief in the transformative power of great architecture to uplift, not only the physical, but also the economic and social conditions of a community.” Now that sounds like a belief we can get behind and it bodes well for this building becoming an anchor in the revitalization of the Rhode Island Avenue NE corridor.

Equally impressive, local architects Wiencek + Associates have designed many local community spaces including Joe’s Movement Emporium in nearby Mount Rainier MD and many local schools and office buildings. They were even chosen for other library projects, the Francis A. Gregory and Bellevue Libraries. Their philosophy is that “good architecture inspires humanity’s best traits, so [they] treat every community, site, client and end user of a building with the respect they deserve”.

We feel confident that this team will deliver an impressive, important and much needed space for our community of Woodridge and the nearby neighborhoods of Langdon, Brookland, Michigan Park, Fort Lincoln, Gateway, Riggs Park and even Chillum. We’ll be waiting with baited breath for the completed project in 2015.
