DC Farmers Markets: Great Food, Community & Fun

Washington DC’s farmers markets offers residents the opportunity to shop local and support local growers and businesses. It’s not only a chance for you to get to know your local producers but your neighbors as well. Enjoy food sampling, cooking demonstrations, flower arranging, and activites for the kids. Farmers markets serve as a way to connect with your community or get acquainted with a new neighborhood you’ve been meaning to explore.

The Washington Post Food Blog is a great resource for more information about your local farmers markets, to find out about the produce in season and upcoming special events. Also, check out FRESHFARM Markets, the largest network of farmers markets in the Chesapeake region, which serves five farmers markets in the DC metroplian area.

National Farmers Market Week this year will be August 5th-11th.
