    DC’s Best Ghost Tours & Halloween Events

    What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than by enjoying a creepy, nighttime ghost tour? Given our rich and unique history, there’s no lack of harrowing tales and purported hauntings in this city. Ironically, Lafayette Square seems to have a particularly violent and creepy past. There are many tours in the area that focus on specific neighborhoods (Hello Georgetown! As if the Exorcist doesn’t make it scary enough!) or particular houses.     Boo on the Zoo
    Children and adults travel through the zoo, trick or treat in the animal houses collecting candy from costumed volunteer and walk long haunted trails.
    Dates: October 26th-28th, 5:30pm – 8:30pm

    Air and Scare at Air and Space
    Discover the spooky side of air and space at the Udvar-Hazy Center’s sixth annual Air & Scare! Arrive in costume for safe indoor trick-or-treating. Participate in creepy crafts, spooky science experiments, and other Halloween-themed activities. Bring the tiniest visitors by the Tot Zone to play dress-up and hear a story. Don’t forget to stop by the face painting station or pose for a photo with your favorite Star Wars character! Free admission.

    Hilloween at Eastern Market
    Capitol Hill tradition, much anticipated free Halloween event.  Hay rides, moon bounces, carousel rides, toys, balloons, candy & much more.
    Date: October 31st, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
    Location:  7th Street SE

    Fall Frolic at Glen Echo
    Choose a pumpkin and decorate it, enjoy trick-or-treating at the Park’s galleries and theaters, make a spooky spider. a friendly ghost, or a special trick-or-treat bag, and wear a costume for the parade! There will be face-painting, and a pumpkin promenade. Admission is free.

    Silver Spring Zombie Walk
    Pre-walk party at the Quarry House Tavern. Walk departs at 9:30 pm from the corner of Georgia Ave. and Bonifant St. The event concludes at the AFI Silver Theatre, 8633 Colesville Rd., for a special screening of the 2004 British romantic zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead.

    Hallowmarine at the National Aquarium
    Halloween-themed activities include face painting, a costume contest for children, live music from real swashbuckling pirates and a spooky scavenger hunt.

    Fright at the Museum
    What’s more spooky than a Halloween program set among real historic criminal artifacts? The Crime Museum will transform into one of DC’s scariest haunted houses.
